What affects the price

The final bill for septic work depends on a few practical details. First, the size of your tank and how long it has been since the last pump-out matter; older or neglected systems often require more labor to clear. Accessibility also plays a role, as tanks buried deep or under landscaping take longer to reach. If you have an emergency blockage or require repairs to baffles or risers, those add to the total. About this service

Septic services cover the ongoing care of your underground waste system, including routine pumping, inspections, and minor troubleshooting. Regular maintenance helps prevent backups and protects your drain field from premature failure. If you notice slow drains or unpleasant odors in your yard, it is time to have a professional take a look. We provide comprehensive support, and exact pricing confirmed free on the call.

Summer often means more houseguests and increased water usage, which puts a heavier load on your septic system. With more laundry and showers, solids can accumulate faster than usual. Keep an eye on your lawn for soggy patches or unusually lush grass, which can be signs of a stressed system. A quick mid-season check helps ensure everything flows smoothly.

Frequently asked in Reno

What is the purpose of a septic tank?

A septic tank serves as the primary component of an onsite wastewater treatment system. It collects all the wastewater generated by your home, including from toilets, showers, and sinks. Inside the tank, wastewater separates into three layers: solids (sludge) settle at the bottom, grease and oils (scum) float to the top, and clearer liquid effluent remains in the middle. Bacteria within the tank help to decompose some of the organic waste before the liquid is discharged to a drain field.

What is the average cost of a septic tank?

The cost of a septic tank in Reno can vary significantly based on its size, material (like concrete, fiberglass, or plastic), and the brand. Installation is another major cost, involving excavation and plumbing connections. The specific site conditions on your property, such as soil type and access, will also impact the overall price. For an accurate figure, it's essential to get a personalized quote from a qualified professional.

How long do septic tanks usually last?

A well-maintained septic tank can last for a considerable time, often between 20 to 30 years, and sometimes even longer. Regular professional pumping and inspections are crucial for maximizing its lifespan. Neglecting these maintenance tasks can lead to premature system failure, resulting in costly repairs or the need for a complete replacement. Proactive care is key to protecting your Reno property's infrastructure.

How often do septic tanks need to be emptied?

For most homes in Reno, having your septic tank pumped every 3 to 5 years is the general recommendation. This timeframe can change depending on your household's water usage and the size of your tank. If you have a larger family or a smaller tank, you might need more frequent pumping. Regular emptying prevents the buildup of solids and scum, which can lead to system clogs.

How much does it cost to have a septic tank pumped?

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

In Reno, the general guideline for septic tank pumping is every three to five years. This frequency is designed to remove accumulated solids and scum, preventing them from entering and damaging your drain field. Factors such as the number of people in your household and the tank's capacity will influence the ideal pumping schedule for your specific needs. Consistent pumping ensures the longevity of your septic system.
